Why E-Bike Crashes Near Highway Ramps Can Cause Serious Injuries
E-bike crashes near highway ramps and major intersections can be especially dangerous because of heavier traffic flow and changing vehicle speeds. Drivers entering or exiting highways may be focused on merging traffic, making smaller vehicles like bicycles harder to detect.
Class 3 e-bikes can travel at higher speeds than traditional bicycles, which may reduce reaction time for both riders and drivers. Young riders are also more vulnerable to serious injuries due to limited physical protection during impact. Intersections near interstate ramps often involve multiple turning movements and lane changes, increasing the risk of collisions. Investigators typically review traffic patterns, visibility, and right-of-way conditions when examining crashes involving e-bikes and motor vehicles.
