Why Motorcycle Crashes Near Highway Ramps Can Be Dangerous
Motorcycle crashes near highway entrances and exits often happen because drivers are focused on merging traffic or turning movements rather than smaller vehicles already on the roadway. Motorcycles can be more difficult to spot, especially during quick lane changes or turns across traffic.
In collisions involving cars and motorcycles, riders are at a much greater risk of injury because they lack the protective structure found in passenger vehicles. Leg, back, and head injuries are common even when riders remain conscious after impact. Areas surrounding highway ramps may also have heavier traffic flow and sudden speed changes, increasing the likelihood of crashes. Investigators typically review vehicle positioning, driver visibility, and right-of-way conditions to determine how these incidents occur.
