Motorcycle Crash Risks at Busy Intersections
Motorcycle crashes at intersections can be deadly because riders have less protection than people inside cars. A T-bone impact can expose a rider to direct force from the side or front of another vehicle. Even with safety gear, the injuries can be severe.
Intersections with crossing traffic can be complex. Drivers may be turning, crossing lanes, or waiting at stop signs while motorcycles and other vehicles move through the main road. Vehicle size, sight distance, and traffic flow can all affect how quickly people see each other.
After a fatal motorcycle crash, scene details may help explain how the collision happened. Vehicle damage, roadway markings, traffic controls, and final resting positions can provide useful context. Medical findings may also show the full severity of the injuries.
