Arcadia, FL (January 22, 2026) – A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday in DeSoto County, and authorities are now searching for the driver responsible, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at the intersection of SE Airport Rd and SE Airport Estates St. Investigators say the motorcyclist, a 36-year-old Arcadia man, was traveling north on SE Airport Rd when a pickup truck traveling west on SE Airport Estates St pulled into the intersection.
According to troopers, the pickup truck made a left turn from a stop sign directly into the path of the motorcycle. The front left side of the truck struck the motorcycle, causing the rider to be ejected onto the roadway.
Following the collision, the driver of the truck fled the scene without stopping to provide assistance. The injured motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. His current condition has not been publicly updated.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle may be a black Ford F-150, likely a model from 2009 to 2014. Authorities are urging anyone who may have information about the vehicle or driver to call *FHP or reach out to Crime Stoppers.
The crash remains under active investigation.
