Inverness, FL (January 22, 2026) – A woman was tragically killed on Tuesday evening after being struck by a truck towing a trailer along U.S. 41 in Inverness, according to officials with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal incident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. north of Eden Rd. Multiple agencies, including sheriff’s deputies, emergency medical crews, the Inverness Fire Department, and FHP, responded swiftly to the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the woman or confirmed the circumstances that led to the collision. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The section of U.S. 41 where the crash occurred was temporarily closed while responders worked and authorities conducted a preliminary investigation. Traffic was later reopened with caution.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
