Ashburn, VA (January 14, 2026) – A tragic crash Tuesday morning near Stone Bridge High School has claimed the life of a student, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and school officials.
Deputies responded around 9:30 a.m. to the area of Claiborne Parkway and Portsmouth Boulevard after receiving reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they found that a student had been struck by a vehicle near the school. Despite emergency efforts, the student later died from their injuries.
Authorities have not yet released full details about how the crash occurred, as the investigation remains ongoing. The identity of the student has also not been publicly shared.
Stone Bridge High School Principal Timothy Flynn confirmed the heartbreaking news in a letter sent to students, parents, and staff. “As you can imagine, we are heartbroken by this loss,” Flynn wrote. “A traumatic event such as this can evoke a wide range of emotions, and we know the Loudoun County community joins us in grieving alongside the student’s family.”
Out of respect for the tragedy, all after-school activities were canceled. The school has made mental health professionals available on campus for the remainder of the week to support students and staff during this difficult time.
“The safety, well-being, and emotional health of our students and staff remain our highest priority,” Flynn emphasized.
