Post Falls, ID (July 27, 2026) – A head-on collision left at least one person injured early on Saturday on Interstate 90 near mile marker 4.2 in Post Falls. Firefighters and EMS were dispatched to the scene shortly after 2:15 a.m.

A 22-year-old man from Post Falls was driving a blue 2012 GMC Terrain westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with a red 2025 Jeep SUV driven by a 25-year-old man from North Baldwin, New York. Officials said at least one of the drivers was injured, but the conditions of both men have not been released.

Alcohol impairment is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash. The eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 remained closed for about an hour while emergency crews worked at the scene. More details will be released as soon as they become available.

We are thinking of those injured.

Why Wrong-Way Crashes Can Lead to Serious Injuries

Wrong-way crashes are among the most severe types of roadway collisions because the combined impact of two vehicles traveling toward each other can create tremendous force. These incidents may occur due to driver impairment, confusion, poor visibility, or entering a highway from the wrong direction. The severity of injuries can also depend on vehicle speed, seat belt use, and the type of vehicles involved.

After a wrong-way collision, investigators may examine roadway signs, vehicle damage, witness accounts, and other available evidence to determine how the driver entered the highway in the wrong direction. They could also review factors such as impairment, weather conditions, and visibility. This information helps establish the sequence of events and provides a clearer understanding of how the crash occurred.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
