Coeur d’Alene, ID (July 27, 2026) – A Coeur d’Alene man died after a boat overturned on the Coeur d’Alene River near Blue Lake on Saturday afternoon, July 25.
Rescue teams were dispatched to the area at approximately 4:45 p.m. following reports of a boating accident involving two people. According to officials, the boat crashed while traveling on the river and overturned, throwing both occupants into the water. One person resurfaced and was rescued by nearby boaters.
The second occupant, identified as 49-year-old Matthew C. Cross of Coeur d’Alene, did not resurface. A dive team later recovered his body from the water. Investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
