Rankin County, MS (July 27, 2026) – A Rankin County Sheriff’s Office deputy sustained serious injuries after a crash on US Highway 80 while responding to an emergency call.
The deputy became trapped inside the patrol vehicle and had to be extricated before being taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Officials said the deputy was listed in critical but stable condition. No additional information about other vehicles or injuries has been confirmed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with more information expected to be released later.
