Why Intersections in Rural Areas Can Be Sites of Serious Crashes
Intersections in rural or township areas can present unique driving challenges. Many roads meet at right angles and may not have traffic signals or stoplights, so drivers must rely on posted signs and clear visibility.
Vehicles approaching from different directions may travel at higher speeds than in urban areas. If a driver misjudges another vehicle’s distance or speed, the result can be a serious collision.
Road conditions, visibility around trees or buildings, and traffic control signs can also affect safety at these crossings. Investigators often examine these factors when reviewing how an intersection crash occurred.
