How Speeding Can Increase the Severity of Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Speeding is often linked to serious traffic accidents because it reduces the amount of time drivers have to react to sudden changes on the road. A fast-moving vehicle may not be able to stop in time to avoid slower traffic, especially on busy roadways with multiple lanes and medians.
Rear-end crashes caused by speeding can also lead to secondary collisions. In some cases, a vehicle may lose control after impact and cross into other lanes of traffic, creating a greater risk of head-on crashes. These accidents frequently result in severe injuries because of the force involved.
Road conditions, traffic flow, and driver reaction times are commonly reviewed after major collisions. Damage patterns and the positions of vehicles can also help explain how a crash unfolded.
