Light Rail Crashes and Passenger Injuries
Crashes involving light rail trains can cause injuries even when the impact does not appear severe. Passengers may be standing, seated, or moving through the train when a sudden collision happens. A jolt can lead to falls, head pain, back injuries, or other trauma.
Urban rail corridors often share space with cars, buses, cyclists, and pedestrians. Drivers must watch for tracks, signals, and train movement near intersections or station areas. A vehicle entering the rail path can create danger for people inside the train and nearby traffic.
After a light rail crash, service may pause while crews check the train, assist passengers, and clear the area. Medical checks can help confirm whether injuries need further treatment.
