Bakersfield, CA (January 13, 2026) – A fatal crash involving a pedestrian occurred on January 12 at the intersection of South Union Ave and Garden Dr in Bakersfield. The collision took place at approximately 6:16 a.m., prompting an immediate response from the California Highway Patrol, fire crews, and coroner personnel.
According to CHP, a gray sedan was traveling in the area when it struck a pedestrian under circumstances that remain under investigation. Emergency responders arrived to find the pedestrian unresponsive and pronounced the individual deceased at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
