Milwaukee, WI (June 19, 2026) – A Milwaukee bar owner was seriously hurt on Tuesday night after being struck by a scooter rider near Martin Luther King Dr and State St in downtown Milwaukee.
The person hurt was identified as Dave Wolz, owner of La Cage Nightclub. Video from the area showed the moment a Lime scooter rider collided with Wolz, after which nearby patrons rushed to assist him. He was later taken to Froedtert Hospital.
Wolz told reporters he suffered two broken bones in his foot, three broken ribs, and fractures in his spine. He was scheduled to undergo spinal fusion surgery on Friday, June 19, followed by a separate procedure on his foot. The scooter rider was later apprehended, and city officials said a felony charge is expected to be recommended for allegedly riding on the sidewalk and causing serious injuries.
