What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed in School Zone DUI-Related Crashes?
Crashes in school zones involving suspected impaired driving are typically reviewed with close attention to timing, location, and pedestrian activity. Investigators often examine whether reduced speeds and school-zone signage were in effect at the time of the incident.
Driver impairment evaluations may include field sobriety assessments, witness statements, and any available video evidence. These details can help establish a clearer picture of driver behavior leading up to the collision.
Road layout near schools is also assessed, including crosswalk placement, visibility, and traffic flow during peak hours. In many cases, investigators also review how quickly emergency response was initiated and the position of pedestrians at the time of impact.
