How Intersections Can Increase the Risk of Motorcycle Crashes
Intersections are common locations for serious crashes, especially those involving motorcycles. These areas bring together vehicles moving in different directions, which increases the chance of misjudging speed or distance. Motorcycles can be harder to see than larger vehicles, particularly during turns or when crossing traffic lanes.
Limited visibility, quick decision-making, and failure to yield are often contributing factors in intersection crashes. Even when riders follow traffic rules, they may still be at risk due to the actions of others. Protective gear, such as helmets, can help reduce injury severity, but it does not eliminate the dangers present in these situations.
Understanding how intersections function and staying alert can help reduce the likelihood of these types of accidents.
