What Can Happen When a Vehicle Leaves the Roadway During a Crash
When a vehicle leaves the roadway during a crash, the risk of injury can increase due to uneven ground and sudden stops. Ditches, embankments, and roadside obstacles can cause a vehicle to tilt, roll, or come to a hard stop, which may lead to strain or impact injuries.
The force of leaving the road can also damage key parts of a vehicle, including the frame and suspension. This can make it harder for occupants to exit safely without help. In some cases, drivers may lose control due to speed, distraction, or road conditions, especially on highways where traffic moves quickly.
Seat belts and proper seating position can help reduce the risk of more serious harm. Quick response from emergency crews also plays a part in helping those involved receive care and securing the scene to prevent further incidents.
