What Is Typically Reviewed in Highway Shoulder Crashes Involving Trucks?
Crashes involving vehicles stopped on highway shoulders are often examined for lane positioning and driver awareness. Investigators typically review how close passing vehicles were to the shoulder at the time of the incident.
Visibility is another key factor, including lighting conditions and the presence of hazard signals or reflective materials. These elements can affect how easily a stopped vehicle and a nearby person can be seen.
Driver behavior is also considered, especially when a vehicle leaves the scene. Details such as speed, lane control, and reaction time help provide a clearer picture of how the crash occurred.
