Norfolk, NE (August 30, 2026) – A 66-year-old cyclist was reportedly injured on Friday afternoon, August 28, after being struck by a sedan on East Benjamin Avenue in Stanton County. The incident occurred about one-quarter mile east of the Highway 35 and Benjamin Avenue intersection.
According to the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office, the cyclist was traveling west on East Benjamin Avenue against traffic. At the same time, a 17-year-old girl was turning left onto the avenue from a private driveway when the bicycle collided with her sedan. The impact sent the cyclist and bicycle over the car’s front hood before they landed on the concrete roadway.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue transported the cyclist to Faith Health for treatment. The 17-year-old driver was not injured in the collision. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under review. We hope the injured cyclist has a smooth recovery.
