Spring Township, PA (June 28, 2026) – A 78-year-old bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle on Friday afternoon on Route 724 at Cloister Court in Spring Township. The accident reportedly happened around 2:30 p.m. on June 26.
According to the preliminary investigation, the victim, John B. Renninger of Mohnton, was riding his bicycle on Route 724 when a westbound vehicle attempting to make a left turn onto Cloister Court struck him.
Renninger was transported to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency department. The Berks County Coroner determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was ruled accidental. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of John B.
