Hesperia, CA (June 21, 2026) – A 36-year-old man lost his life after his sedan struck the rear of a bobtail semi-truck on northbound Interstate 15 near Ranchero Road in Hesperia.
The fatal crash was reported at about 4:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 20. According to available reports, a sedan collided with the back of a white semi-tractor that was operating without a trailer. Early information indicated the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before reaching the truck, which was later reported to be on the right shoulder.
Witnesses told dispatchers that the black sedan had been weaving across traffic lanes before the collision. Debris from the wreckage was scattered into the right lane, while the car remained upright after striking the truck. An automatic crash detection alert from an iPhone was also received shortly after the first calls.
Emergency units documented major damage to the sedan as well as approximately 25 feet of fencing that was knocked down nearby. Reports later confirmed that Michael A. Farace, 36, of Costa Mesa, died at the roadside. Coroner records stated he was pronounced dead at the dirt shoulder along Interstate 15.
Further details regarding factors leading up to the accident had not been released as of publication. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal roadway collision.
