Bowdon, GA (January 5, 2026) – Two individuals tragically lost their lives following a mobile home fire in Bowdon on Saturday morning, despite the swift and courageous efforts of Carroll County firefighters. The blaze broke out at a residence located at 100 Memorial Dr just before 11:00 a.m.
When crews from Carroll County Fire Rescue arrived, they were met with heavy fire and smoke engulfing nearly half of the single-wide mobile home. Upon learning that two people were trapped inside, firefighters acted quickly, pulling both victims through a bedroom window within minutes of their arrival.
The victims, identified by the Carroll County Coroner’s Office as Melinda Clark, 66, and Johnny Turner, 63, were unresponsive at the time of rescue. First responders immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR, and were able to regain a pulse in both individuals before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Sadly, both later succumbed to their injuries.
No other injuries were reported in the incident. The Carroll County Fire Marshal’s Office is actively investigating the cause of the fire.
