What Risks Are Associated With Left Turns at Busy Intersections?
Left turns across traffic can be among the most dangerous maneuvers on the road. Drivers must judge the speed and distance of oncoming vehicles while finding a safe gap to turn.
If a driver misjudges that gap, it can lead to a direct impact with vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. These crashes often involve significant force due to combined speeds.
Intersections with multiple lanes or heavy traffic can make it more difficult to make safe turns. Remaining patient and waiting for a clear opening can help reduce the chance of a collision.
