Why Rear-End Crashes Can Be Serious at Highway Speeds
Rear-end collisions, even at moderate speeds, can result in significant injuries due to sudden impact and limited reaction time. When one vehicle is stationary or moving slowly, such as during roadside assistance, the risk to occupants increases.
Highways pose additional hazards because drivers may not anticipate stopped vehicles on the shoulder. Protective measures like warning lights, flares, and traffic cones can help, but accidents still occur if approaching drivers are distracted or unable to stop in time. Emergency responders work quickly to secure the scene and treat any injuries.
