Tangipahoa Parish, LA (April 4, 2026) – A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash late Wednesday night, April 1, in Tangipahoa Parish, authorities reported. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at North Baptist Road and Sunset Acres.
Deputies said the bicyclist, identified as 46-year-old Michael Ribando Jr., was first struck by a vehicle whose driver stopped and called for help. A second vehicle, traveling in the opposite direction, then hit Ribando and drove away.
Ribando was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Authorities are seeking the public’s help to identify the second vehicle, described as a light-colored sedan that was heading north on North Baptist Road before turning right onto Wardline Road.
Officials continue to investigate the crash, and more details will be released as they become available.
