Risks and Precautions During Traffic Stops
Traffic stops can become dangerous for law enforcement, particularly if a driver attempts to flee. Officers face risks from sudden vehicle movements and proximity to moving traffic.
Safety protocols, such as positioning patrol vehicles to shield officers and communicating with backup units, are critical for reducing injury risk. Driver awareness and cooperation can also help prevent accidents during routine stops.
