Brooksville, FL (January 22, 2026) – A 39-year-old woman from Brooksville was tragically killed in a single-vehicle accident early Thursday morning after losing control of her car on Mondon Hill Rd, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m. as the woman was traveling eastbound in a Ford Taurus. Troopers say the accident unfolded near the area of Jasmine Dr when the driver failed to navigate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle veered off the pavement, began to rotate, and ultimately collided with a tree.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene quickly, but despite their efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported. The road remained partially closed in the early hours as investigators examined the scene and worked to determine the contributing factors behind the loss of control.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident and has not released further information at this time.
