Broward County, FL (January 16, 2026) – A major crash involving a FedEx truck, a semi-truck, and five additional vehicles left four people hospitalized on Thursday morning on Interstate 95, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 9:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 at Exit 32 for State Road 870/Commercial Boulevard. Authorities say the incident began when a Toyota attempted to change lanes to exit but overcorrected, colliding with a Hyundai Santa Fe. That impact set off a chain reaction that escalated quickly.
The Santa Fe then struck a semi-truck, which lost an axle in the process. The semi veered across I-95 and collided with a Hyundai, further complicating the scene. Meanwhile, two other vehicles trying to speed up to avoid the semi-truck ended up making contact with a FedEx truck.
First responders rushed to the chaotic scene and transported four individuals to area hospitals. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
A portion of the off-ramp remained closed for several hours while authorities cleared debris, removed damaged vehicles, and investigated the circumstances. The ramp was officially reopened by 11:15 a.m., according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol continue to assess the events leading to the crash, including driver behavior and vehicle movement. Video from the scene showed the FedEx truck surrounded by debris, with several vehicles visibly damaged and in the process of being towed.
We extend our best wishes for recovery to all those injured in this multi-vehicle accident and thank the emergency crews for their swift and coordinated response.
