Bucklin, KS (January 8, 2026) – Two people suffered serious injuries Wednesday afternoon following a rear-end collision involving a passenger car and a semitrailer in Ford County, southwest of Bucklin.
The crash took place around 1:12 p.m. on January 7 along US-54, approximately four miles southwest of Bucklin. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2005 Lincoln Town Car was traveling eastbound when it collided into the back of a 2024 Peterbilt semitrailer, which was also heading east.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided care to both individuals inside the Lincoln. The driver, a 54-year-old from Vado, New Mexico, and the passenger, a 26-year-old from Texhoma, Texas, were transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Dodge City with serious injuries. Both had reportedly been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The driver of the semi, a 61-year-old from La Junta, Colorado, was uninjured. Authorities noted he was not wearing a seat belt.
The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision. Additional updates may be released as more information becomes available.
