Why Busy Intersections Often See Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Intersections where major roads meet often see more traffic accidents. Vehicles approach from several directions, and drivers may be turning, stopping, or accelerating simultaneously.
Traffic signals and turning lanes can help organize movement, but sudden stops or misjudged turns can still lead to collisions. Even a small delay in reaction time can cause one vehicle to strike another.
Congestion can also increase the likelihood of crashes. When many vehicles pass through an intersection in a short time, drivers may focus on surrounding traffic rather than notice a changing signal or a slowing vehicle ahead.
Road design, visibility, and traffic volume can all influence the frequency of crashes at these locations.
