Injury Risks After Rollover Crashes
Rollover crashes can cause injuries because a vehicle may strike the road or ground more than once. People inside may be thrown against seats, doors, windows, or other parts of the vehicle during the crash.
Sport utility vehicles can roll after certain impacts, especially when momentum shifts quickly. The angle of impact, speed, roadway layout, and vehicle position can all affect how a rollover happens.
After a rollover, emergency crews often check for head injuries, neck pain, back trauma, broken bones, and internal injuries. Crews may also need to manage broken glass, leaking fluids, debris, and blocked lanes before traffic can safely move again.
