Why Large Bus Crashes Can Cause Extensive Property Damage
Charter buses are significantly larger and heavier than passenger vehicles, which means collisions involving these vehicles can affect a wide area. When a bus leaves its intended path, it may strike multiple objects before stopping, including vehicles, utility poles, traffic signals, and landscaping features.
The size and momentum of a bus can also increase the likelihood of damage to surrounding infrastructure. Downed utility lines and damaged poles often require additional response efforts to restore services and ensure public safety. Investigators reviewing these incidents typically examine vehicle condition, roadway factors, driver actions, and witness accounts to better understand how the crash unfolded and why extensive property damage occurred.
