Chesapeake, VA (January 23, 2026) – A serious motor vehicle accident involving entrapment occurred on Wednesday afternoon near Exit 296A from I-64 East onto George Washington Hwy in Chesapeake. The incident led to a heavy emergency response and temporary traffic disruption in the area.
The crash was reported at approximately 12:35 PM on January 21. Multiple fire and EMS units, including Engine 3, Medic 3, Ladder 2, Battalion 1, Rescue 1, Engine 24, EMS 1, and Medic 5, were dispatched to the scene. Initial reports indicated that at least one occupant was trapped inside a vehicle following the crash.
Crews worked swiftly to free the individual using specialized equipment. Once extricated, medics provided immediate treatment on-site. The extent of the injuries has not been officially released, but responders confirmed the patient was conscious during the rescue effort.
