Why Rear-End Motorcycle Crashes on Interstates Can Be Severe
Motorcycle crashes on interstate highways often result in serious injuries because riders have little protection during impact. Rear-end collisions can be especially dangerous when traffic is moving at highway speeds or when drivers have limited time to react to slowing vehicles ahead.
Heavy traffic near interchanges may also increase crash risks. Vehicles entering or exiting the highway can cause sudden braking or lane changes, creating situations where motorcycles and passenger vehicles travel close together in fast-moving traffic.
After a major motorcycle collision, traffic delays are common while crews clear damaged vehicles and examine the roadway. Investigators may also review vehicle damage, traffic conditions, and witness accounts to better understand how the crash occurred.
