Chesterfield County, VA (January 9, 2026) – A tanker truck driver lost his life on Thursday morning following a crash on Route 1 in Chesterfield County. The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. on January 8 in the 5800 block of the roadway.
According to Chesterfield County Police, the tanker was leaving a nearby business when it veered off course, crashed through a fence, crossed the roadway, and collided with a jersey wall. Responding officers found the male driver unresponsive inside the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, though official confirmation is pending. The victim’s name has not been released, as authorities are still in the process of notifying next of kin.
No other injuries were reported, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
