Norfolk, VA (January 9, 2026) – A tragic single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a woman on Thursday afternoon after her car overturned near Norview Ave and Pamlico Cir in Norfolk’s Five Points area. Authorities confirmed that the crash occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. on January 8.
The incident took place in the 1000 block of Norview Ave, where the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree before flipping over. Emergency crews responded quickly and transported the driver, later identified as 55-year-old Amanda E. McMillan of Virginia Beach, to a nearby hospital. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries.
Images from the scene showed the vehicle overturned on the sidewalk as investigators worked to document the crash site. Norfolk Police closed multiple roads in the area to conduct their investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate that neither speed nor alcohol appears to have been a factor in the collision. Officials continue to examine what may have led to the loss of control.
