What Factors Are Often Involved in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crashes?
Hit-and-run crashes involving pedestrians often occur in areas where foot traffic and vehicles intersect, such as crosswalks and busy streets. Even when pedestrians use marked crossings, they may still face risk if drivers fail to yield or remain attentive.
Visibility and timing can also influence these incidents. Nighttime conditions may make it harder for drivers to see pedestrians, especially when lighting is limited or traffic is moving quickly.
When a driver leaves the scene, it can delay medical response and make it harder to gather key details. Investigations often rely on witness accounts, vehicle descriptions, and nearby cameras to help identify those involved.
