Monticello Township, MN (July 2, 2026) – Several children and two drivers were injured in a three-vehicle collision on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of County Road 37 and Edmonson Avenue NE in Monticello Township.

According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash at approximately 4:18 p.m. on June 29. Investigators said 18-year-old Hannah Simonson of Cokato was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala south on Edmonson Avenue NE. After stopping at a stop sign, Simonson proceeded into the intersection, where the Impala was struck broadside on the driver’s side by a westbound 2022 Toyota RAV4 driven by a juvenile from Excelsior.

Authorities said the initial impact pushed the Impala into the path of an eastbound 2022 Toyota RAV4 driven by 37-year-old Samantha Tiegs of Buffalo, resulting in a second collision on the passenger side. The three vehicles came to rest in different locations around the intersection, each sustaining significant damage.

Four passengers were riding in the Impala at the time of the crash. Three juvenile passengers were transported to a hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious. Officials said one child suffered a broken arm and periodically lost consciousness at the scene, raising concerns about a possible concussion. Simonson also sustained a head injury, while the juvenile driver of the westbound Toyota was treated for minor injuries. No injuries were reported for Tiegs, and no fatalities occurred.

The intersection remained closed for approximately 30 to 45 minutes while emergency crews responded. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.

We wish everyone injured, especially the children, a full and speedy recovery.

Why Three-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Require Detailed Investigation?

Crashes involving multiple vehicles at intersections require investigators to carefully reconstruct the sequence of impacts. Officers examine vehicle damage, skid marks, debris, roadway evidence, and the final resting positions of each vehicle to determine how the collision unfolded.

Investigators may also review witness statements, traffic control devices, visibility, and any available surveillance footage. When children are injured, medical evaluations help document the extent of their injuries while providing additional information about the forces involved in the crash.

As evidence is analyzed, investigators work to establish an accurate timeline based on verified facts. This thorough review helps provide a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding the collision and any factors that may have contributed to it.
