Clay Twp, OH (January 15, 2026) – A devastating three-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 31-year-old man early Wednesday morning at the intersection of State Route 586 and Township Road 148 in Clay Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that the crash occurred just before 6:00 a.m. when a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a woman traveling on Township Rd 148, failed to stop at a posted sign and entered the intersection. Her vehicle was struck on the side by an eastbound 2009 Honda Fit operated by Andrew McGee, of Utica.
The impact caused McGee’s vehicle to veer left of center, where it then collided head-on with a 2014 Ford Fusion traveling west on Route 586. The driver of the Ford, a 54-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Knox Community Hospital for evaluation.
Tragically, McGee was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators confirmed he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The driver of the Equinox and a 5-year-old passenger inside her vehicle were unharmed.
Officials have ruled out alcohol and drug impairment as contributing factors in the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the sequence of events and other potential contributing factors.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Andrew McGee during this heartbreaking time and wish the injured driver a swift recovery.
