How Left-Turn Collisions Often Happen at Intersections
Crashes involving left turns are common at intersections, especially at night. Drivers turning left must judge the speed and distance of oncoming traffic, which can be difficult in low visibility.
When a vehicle crosses into the path of another car, the impact often occurs at an angle. These types of collisions can cause a vehicle to spin or roll over, depending on speed and point of contact.
Intersections with multiple lanes or limited lighting may increase the risk of misjudging traffic flow. Even a brief mistake in timing can lead to serious consequences, particularly when vehicles are traveling in opposite directions.
