What Should Drivers Know About Hit-and-Run Crashes on Highways?
Hit-and-run crashes on interstates can create added risks because traffic often moves at high speeds. When a vehicle overturns or blocks part of the roadway, other drivers may have little time to react.
Guardrails are designed to reduce the severity of crashes, but vehicles can still end up in dangerous positions. An overturned car may increase the chance of further impact if traffic is not slowed quickly.
In hit-and-run situations, investigators often review roadway cameras, vehicle debris, and witness statements. These details can help determine what happened and identify the driver who left the scene.
