What Happens When a Driver Runs a Red Light at a Busy Intersection?
Intersections are one of the most common places for crashes, especially in downtown areas with heavy traffic and late-night activity. When a driver enters an intersection against a red light, cross traffic may have little time to react, increasing the risk of a serious collision.
Red-light crashes often involve side impacts, which can lead to injuries even at moderate speeds. In many cases, traffic signals, witness accounts, and vehicle damage help piece together what occurred. Factors such as visibility, road conditions, and driver attention are also often reviewed when examining how a crash unfolded.
