Why Pursuit-Related Crashes Are Particularly Dangerous
Crashes that occur during police pursuits are often severe because fleeing drivers may travel at high speeds, disregard traffic controls, and drive unpredictably. Innocent motorists nearby can become victims in an instant, as seen in this tragic case.
Investigators rely on evidence such as vehicle damage, roadway marks, surveillance footage, and witness statements to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash. Pursuit-related collisions underscore significant risks to both participants and bystanders, particularly on major thoroughfares where traffic continues into the early morning hours.
