Why Rear-End Crashes Can Be Severe, Especially for Children
Rear-end collisions often result in serious injuries because the force of impact is transferred to the occupants of the struck vehicle. Children, especially infants and toddlers, are particularly vulnerable, even when properly restrained, due to their smaller size and developing bodies.
The severity of injuries can increase when vehicles are unable to slow down or when sudden stops occur. Emergency responders focus on stabilizing injured passengers and ensuring the scene is safe, as debris and vehicle damage can create additional hazards.
Careful attention to speed, distance, and traffic conditions is critical to preventing such accidents, particularly in residential or high-traffic areas.
