Understanding Pedestrian Accidents and Safety Risks
Pedestrian crashes can happen at any time, but are more common during late-night hours when visibility is reduced. Drivers may have difficulty seeing people walking near or on roadways, especially in areas with limited lighting or high traffic. Pedestrians are also at greater risk if they are near busy highways or crossing outside of marked crosswalks. Factors such as vehicle speed, road conditions, and driver attentiveness can all affect the severity of injuries. Safety measures like reflective clothing, sidewalks, and designated crosswalks can help reduce the likelihood of these types of accidents.
