What Can Happen When a Car Strikes a Bicycle?
A collision between a car and bicycle can result in serious injuries because cyclists have limited protection compared with people inside motor vehicles. The impact can cause a cyclist to fall onto the roadway or strike another part of the vehicle.
Roadway design, traffic signals, visibility, vehicle movement, and bicycle position can provide useful information about how a crash occurred. Medical evaluations can help document injuries and determine the care needed. Vehicle damage and marks on the roadway may also help establish the sequence of events.
