Why Motorcycle Crashes on Highways Can Become Fatal Quickly
Motorcycle crashes on highways often result in severe injuries because riders have limited protection during impacts. When a rider is thrown from the motorcycle, nearby traffic and roadside barriers can increase the risk of fatal injuries.
Concrete barriers are designed to redirect vehicles and protect roadway structures, but collisions with them can cause riders to lose control or be ejected onto the roadway. High-speed traffic conditions on expressways may also leave little time for nearby drivers to avoid a fallen rider.
After fatal motorcycle crashes, investigators commonly examine roadway evidence, vehicle damage, and lane positioning to understand how the incident unfolded. Traffic patterns and visibility conditions may also be reviewed as part of the investigation.
