How Major Highway Crashes Can Disrupt Urban Traffic
Routes carrying regional traffic near the Palmetto Expressway and Northwest 36th Street can experience severe congestion after serious crashes. In Doral, responders often divert traffic and close lanes to safely manage the scene.
When multiple vehicles are involved or barriers are damaged, clearing the roadway may take longer. This can lead to extended backups, especially during peak travel times.
Traffic flow depends on how quickly lanes can reopen and how drivers adjust to detours. Road design, traffic volume, and the location of the crash all influence how long delays persist before normal conditions return.
