How Head-On Collisions Often Lead to Severe Outcomes
Head-on crashes are among the most serious types of roadway accidents because both vehicles are often moving toward each other at speed. The combined force of impact can result in severe damage, especially when smaller vehicles are involved.
These crashes frequently occur on two-lane roads where there is no physical barrier separating directions of travel. A momentary lane departure, distraction, or misjudgment can place vehicles directly in the path of oncoming traffic.
In many cases, the size and weight difference between vehicles can influence injury outcomes. Larger vehicles like pickup trucks may offer more protection, while smaller cars can absorb more of the impact force, increasing the risk of fatal injuries.
