Reidsville, GA (April 1, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning, March 31, along Georgia Highway 23 near North Tattnall Elementary School in Tattnall County left multiple people hurt. The collision occurred as traffic moved through the area near the school.
According to reports, a Nissan Rogue was traveling southbound while a Lincoln Corsair was heading north and attempted to turn left into the school. Investigators said the Lincoln failed to yield, leading to a crash involving the front ends of both vehicles.
Emergency units responded and used specialized equipment to free the 18-year-old driver of the Nissan, who was trapped inside. That driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital, while two juvenile passengers from the same vehicle were taken to a hospital in a personal vehicle. The driver of the Lincoln was flown from the scene, and a juvenile passenger was first taken by ambulance and later airlifted to Savannah.
Roadways in the area were affected as crews worked at the scene. No additional details about the conditions of those involved were immediately released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be provided soon.
We extend our thoughts to those injured and wish them a full recovery.
What Factors Contribute to School-Zone Intersection Crashes?
Roads near Georgia Highway 23 often carry both local school traffic and steady through vehicles, especially during morning hours. When injury crashes occur in areas like Reidsville, crews typically secure the roadway while focusing on those involved and managing traffic flow.
School zones can present added risks due to turning movements, changing speeds, and increased vehicle activity. Drivers entering or exiting school entrances may need to cross opposing lanes, which can raise the chance of a crash if right-of-way is not clearly followed.
Visibility and timing are also key factors. During busy periods, drivers may misjudge gaps in traffic or fail to see oncoming vehicles. Careful attention to traffic patterns and posted signs can help reduce the risk of these types of collisions.
